Job Description

Fortune Brands Innovations is in search of a Senior Android Mobile Application Developer to join our innovative team for next generation product development.

Leveraging the latest technologies, tools, and frameworks, our mobile application development outlook strives for industry-leading consumer interactions with our products in new and unique ways. As a member of the mobile application development team, you will skillfully design, build, test, release, and support code translating into user-friendly Android applications and develop application programming interfaces.

POSITION LOCATION: This Senior Android Developer is a hybrid employee that will work out of one of our key office locations: N. Olmsted, OH, Oak Creek, WI or Deerfield, IL. In-office days are Tuesday - Thursday with Monday and Friday being remote days.

RESPONSIBLIITIES:

  • Design and build Android applications per IoT/connected products or other business needs.
  • Architect reliable, performant, and scalable mobile applications while developing clean, modular, and reusable code – iterating and shipping rapidly.
  • Effectively collaborate with cross-functional, 3rd party, and partners to deliver high-quality Android products, including via code reviews and pairing.
  • Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs.
  • Support code quality maintenance, organization, and automatization.
  • Apply agile ways of working to deliver superior product quality, customer satisfaction, project control, risk reduction, and threat mitigation, e.g., via iterative development, estimations, and design sessions.
  • Readily learn and apply new concepts, tools, and technologies to job activities and project assignments, as industry advancements demand.
  • Document designs and interfaces to facilitate synergetic software development across disciplines and sites.

 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of Android application development experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Kotlin and Android SDK programming languages.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using APIs and 3rd party libraries to enhance application functionality.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Dagger and/or Hilt, Room, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, and Flow frameworks/tools.
  • Demonstrated proficiency developing mobile applications utilizing cloud services and an understanding of how design models impact ongoing cloud costs.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in source code management, using version control and code deployment across diverse environments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in software architecture, including experience with offline data storage, cloud synchronization, and mobile application trends and best practices.
  • Thorough understanding of structured analysis, design, programming techniques, and change management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge and/or experience in the following technical areas is considered a plus but not required:
    • iOS mobile application development
    • Development and implementation with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant smart home devices
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and practices, in alignment with the business priority of iterating exceptionally and quickly on product changes.
