Purpose of the position
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Software Development Manager to lead our Android application development team. You will be responsible for managing a diverse team of in-office and remote developers, driving the successful delivery of high-quality Android applications, and fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. This role requires a strong technical background in Android development, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to effectively manage a distributed team across multiple time zones. The application being developed will run on SMART Board interactive flat-panel displays in classrooms and offices around the world.

Duties and Responsibilities
Team Leadership:
· Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the team.
· Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture that encourages innovation, accountability, and professional growth.
· Set clear goals and expectations for team members and regularly assess performance against objectives.
Project Management:
· Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of Android application development projects utilizing Agile software development methodologies.
· Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
· Define and track project milestones, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, design, QA) to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.
Technical Expertise:
· Stay up-to-date with the latest Android development trends, technologies, and best practices.
· Review code, provide technical feedback, and ensure adherence to coding standards.
· Participate in architectural design discussions and contribute to technical decision-making.
Talent Acquisition and Development:
· Lead recruitment efforts to attract top talent to the team.
· Provide ongoing training, coaching, and professional development opportunities to team members to enhance their skills and capabilities.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
· Minimum 2 years of experience in managing a software development team in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
· Minimum 4 years of software development experience with Android applications.
· Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.
· Thorough understanding of Android software development principles, tools, and best practices.
· Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work with a global team.
Supervision
· This position will supervise approximately six software engineers.
